Riley Barta is a PhD Candidate in Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University. He studies at the Ray W. Herrick Laboratories under Professor Eckhard A. Groll on fundamental thermal sciences applied to advanced heat pump technology with a focus on transcritical CO2 cycle architectures and methods of expansion work recovery. Riley has authored a number of conference papers that have been presented at IEA, IIR, and Purdue University international conferences, and is the co-author on a textbook chapter. In addition, he is a provisional member on two ASHRAE TC’s, an ASHRAE student member, and an ASHRAE Grant-in-Aid recipient.
