Vikrant Aute is a Research Scientist and Co-Director of the industry and government funded Center for Environmental Energy Engineering at the University of Maryland. He has more than 20 years of experience in developing algorithms and tools for modeling and optimization of HVAC&R systems and components. His research focus includes modeling and optimization of HVAC&R systems and components, innovation in next generation heat exchangers, multi-scale modeling, approximation-assisted multi-objective robust optimization and application of machine learning & additive manufacturing to improve HVAC&R components. He has authored/co-authored 40 journal papers, 115 conference papers, 3 book chapters and 2 editorials. He has given invited talks at various professional society events and international forums. He is the recipient of the Provost's Excellence in Research Award (2018) for PTK faculty at the University of Maryland. He is an active member of ASHRAE, serves on multiple technical committees as a voting member and is recipient of the ASHRAE Distinguished Service Award (2017) and Best Research Paper Award (2018).
