In 2016, Dr. Belanger joined HQ Research Institute as Director, Scientific Research, Grid and Customers. Since May 2017 he manages the HQ Business Unit R&D project portfolios. From 2013 to 2016, he worked in Europe as Director of R&D EU for L&L Products, a technology driven leader in the automotive industry in the fields of sealing, acoustics, and structural adhesives. Prior to this, he worked for the National Research Council (NRC) of Canada from 2005 to 2013. At NRC, he has been Group Leader of the Bioproducts group and Director of the Advanced Materials Design section where he was in charge of the Polymer Biomaterial and Nano-Composites, Structural Polymer Composites, Functional Polymers, Process Modeling and Nano-Imprint on polymer activities. From 2002 to 2005, Dr. Belanger was Director of R&D for Stratek Plastics, a start-up in the field of polymer processing, based in USA. After his graduate studies, he worked in Europe for ATOFINA, the Polymer Division, of the French Group Total for 10 years where he had different positions: R&D scientist, Process Development scientist, and Plant Production Manager. Dr. Christian Belanger received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from McGill University in 1992 and a Bachelor degree in Engineering in Physics from École Polytechnique de Montréal in 1986. Dr. Belanger has extensive experience in the management of innovation in either the public or the private sector.
