Gaétan Lantagne is currently Director of strategic and cross-functional projects of the Hydro-Québec research institute (IREQ). His responsibilities include: overlooking at the overall portfolio of R&D of the Research Institute; managing the longer terms strategic projects as well as projects that are transversal across the business activities of HQ. He is also responsible for the R&D partnerships and intellectual property portfolio. He has cumulated 29 years of experience in energy related research. He has contributed significantly to the energy efficiency R&D programme of Hydro-Québec as well as its positioning in renewable energy research activities. He has chaired the Hydro-Québec steering comity on Wind Power. He also acted as Vice-president- board of directors and executive comity- of the center of excellence on commercialisation of research created by NSERC in energy efficiency and new energy technologies. Over the years, he was also appointed on the board of directors of two start-up companies and technology promoting organisms at the regional and provincial levels. He has worked as a member of the focus group on energy, targeting areas and research topics for the Strategic Project Grants and Strategic Network Grants programs of Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC). He was also a member of the Synergy Awards for Innovation and Innovation Challenge Awards Selection Committee (NSERC) as well as the Industry-College fund for innovation selection committee of the Canadian Foundation for innovation. He is now involved as a consulting member of the Institut Nordique du Québec and and part of the scientific counsel of the Institut Robert- Sauvé en Santé et Sécurité du Travail (IRSST). Gaétan Lantagne is a member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec and holds a Ph.D in Chemical Engineering (1990) from the University of Sherbrooke in Canada.
