Two-Phase refrigerant distribution of vertical header with insertion structure of branch pipe for multi type air conditioner

In order to reduce refrigerant charge, tube sizess of the heat exchanger are reduced, the number of heat exchanger paths of refrigerants have increased. Therefore, the design technologies of vertical headers are recently getting stronger attention. In this study, a vertical header distributor of the new structure with the branch pipe inserted in the main pipe was installed in the heat exchanger and applied to the outflow machine of the top flow type multi air conditioner for building, the evaporation performance of the heat exchanger can be improved by about 10% It was confirmed by experiment. And, I compare refrigerant distribution profile of new header (inserted) with one of conventional header (no inserted) by visualization of two-phase flow.
